Terraria (Honest Opinion)
And so, I opened the game and created a character! This is one of it's features that differentiated from Minecraft. Because in Minecraft, you can't actually create your own character. You had to use what the community had to offer or the default Steve skin.
Moreover, I created a large world and got in. One of the few things I noticed in terraria is they give you a set of tools at the start, these tools also have no durability bar. So that basically means INFINITE USES! Also no hunger bar. The tools they give you are for different applications. Say you have a pickaxe, the pickaxe can only mine anything that is a block, but they also have what they call "pickaxe power". It basically indicates how strong your pickaxe is. Also, there are some blocks in the game that you can't mine unless you craft a better pickaxe. But the thing is, you can't cut trees with it. The game doesn't let you cut down trees without the proper tool, in this case it's the axe that you have to use to cut down trees. Terraria also has hammers to break walls and furnitures with (this was in version 1.1.2).
Let's move on, the progression of the game is absolutely genius! Why didn't anyone think of this kind of genre?! A survival-sandbox-rpg game. You have accessories to wear, armors to wear, and weapon to use! The weapons are amazing, they actually feel like weapons you should use in certain stages in the game. The bosses you fight and the reward they give you is cool, the phases of a boss you go through and everything fun about it!
So from there, I started loving this game that they claim to be Minecraft's Rip-off. It actually isn't. It's so much better than Minecraft. And as the years pass by, I never stopped playing the game. It just became better and better with the constant updates. The community? Don't even get me to start talking about that. But I'll keep it short, the community is a lovely community that provide what you call "mods" or add-ons in the game. I love the community and their mods! Calamity?! Goddamn that thang really got me into the modding community. In the end, Terraria has been the game that was there to quench my thirst for a unique gameplay and everything I want in a video game. Started playing in 2012, Still playing in 2023. Looking forward to more years of me playing more Terraria!
That's all there is to it.
Thanks for reading!
I'm a Minecraft player too and you can actually customize your character in a bought mobile version now. It's actually affordable. Plus a lot has changed since 2012. You got to try it out again. Highly recommended. I'm a survival mode player and if i feel creative, i play creative mode 💕✨
